It is probably fair to say that there are not too many people who were shocked to learn that Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher had an on set romance while filming the Star Wars movies, with many people suggesting it might have happened years before it was confirmed. However, Mark Hamill has been talking about the romance, insisting that he had absolutely no idea that it was going on at the time.
Hamill was chatting to Entertainment Tonight, when he explained to them, "I was blissfully unaware ... I was so self-involved at that point, they could've been doing it in front of me and I wouldn't have noticed. I was single and had my own agenda ... I think it might have been a distraction if I'd known what was going on."
Meanwhile, as well as talking about the on set romance between Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill also went on to discuss the difficulties of having an on set relationship with a co-star, especially if you are involved in a long running project together. Mark says that he has first hand experience of an on set romance, admitting that it can get awkward when things come to an end.
Hamill added, "'If the relationship doesn't last and you're on a TV series and you got four more seasons to go, it can be really awkward. It happened to me. I was with a girl who was playing my sister on a soap opera, 'General Hospital'."
We have seen so many romances beginning on the set of different projects over the years, with very few of them actually lasting the test of time.
