Over the course of the past few weeks and months, and even years for that matter, there has been a lot of talk about the obvious sexism in Hollywood, with women not getting paid the same as the men in the acting industry, while there has also been talk of the women not being offered as good roles as the men. However, it does seem that there has been a bit of a change taking place in recent years.
Hollywood veteran Sigourney Weaver has been working in the acting industry for decades now, landing some of the biggest and best roles in the business. But, while Sigourney has been landing some very impressive roles for many decades now, she has claimed that she has been getting offered more roles than ever before, with some of them being better than ever.
Weaver is quoted by Variety as saying, "I don’t think I’ve ever had more work, Men have more roles, but I don’t think they have better roles. I don’t envy Russell Crowe. Great stories have great women’s parts. Our landscape has changed and I feel that’s reflected in movies. I’m often asked to play roles that traditionally would have gone to men. I think it’s a good time for women."
As far as her acting career is concerned, Sigourney Weaver can next be seen on the big screen, starring in the upcoming new movie A Monster Calls, which is set for limited release in the US on December 23, before then opening nationwide, as well as in the UK, on January 6, 2017.
