The Transformers movie franchise is a very interesting thing, as there are so many fans who have been very critical of the films, yet they continue to make a huge amount of money at the box office. The last installment in the franchise, Transformers: Age of Extinction managed to gross around $1.1bn worldwide, which pretty much guaranteed a fifth movie getting made.
Well, it seems that we have all been thinking far too short-term, as it looks like there are actually already plans for at least another four Transformers movies, which will be spread out over the course of the next 10 years.
Hasbro Studios president Steven Davis was chatting about the future of the Transformers franchise, when he explained, "We decided that we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise. Stay tuned - Transformers 5 is on its way. And six and seven and eight."
With that in mind, it is going to be interesting to see which stars we are going to get appearing in the next four Transformers movies. We already know that Mark Wahlberg will return for Transformers 5, while there have also been plenty of rumours about Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox making a return for the new Transformers films.
As well as that, there will no doubt be some new faces cast for the new films, making their debut in a Transformers project. It is definitely going to be interesting to see what happens with the cast and what happens with the new movies.
Transformers 5 is aiming for a release in 2017.
