Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the biggest and best actors in the movie industry and has continued to give us some sensational performances on the big screen over the years. Unfortunately for Leo, he has been nominated for five Academy Awards during his career but has yet to actually win an Oscar, although that could all be about to change.
Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the upcoming movie The Revenant and there has already been a lot of Oscar buzz surrounding the movie, despite the fact that it is still a few months away from being released. Now, Leo has opened up about his role in The Revenant, revealing some of the gruesome things he had to do on the set of the new movie.
DiCaprio explained, "I can name 30 or 40 sequences that were some of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do. Whether it’s going in and out of frozen rivers, or sleeping in animal carcasses, or what I ate on set. [I was] enduring freezing cold and possible hypothermia constantly. I certainly don’t eat raw bison liver on a regular basis. When you see the movie, you’ll see my reaction to it, because Alejandro kept it in. It says it all. It was an instinctive reaction."
He added, "[Those scenes]—amongst many other sequences—were some of the more difficult things I’ve ever had to do in my entire career. But the end result is going to be one of the most immersive experiences audiences will ever have with what it would be like to come face-to-face with an animal of that magnitude that is incredibly primal."
While there has been a lot of attention and focus on Leonardo DiCaprio, The Revenant does boast a very impressive supporting cast, including the likes of Tom Hardy, Will Poulter, and Domhnall Gleeson. The Revenant opens on limited release on December 25, before then opening nationwide in the US on January 8, 2016, and on January 15, 2016 in the UK.
