Well the first reviews of the eagerly anticipated comic book movie Suicide Squad have arrived and it seems that we have quite a mixed bag, with some critics loving it, while others have slaughtered it. However, if you have been reading the reviews from these so-called critics, then you may have noticed that some of their complaints about Suicide Squad are completely ridiculous and make no sense.
It is no surprise then, that actor Jay Hernandez has come out to hit back at these critics, insisting that many of them are clearly not well-educated about the actually source material, if their complaints are anything to go by. Jay insists that they made the Suicide Squad movie for the fans and that he is sure that the fans are going to love the film, despite the critics complaints.
Hernandez explained, "Yeah I am bothered about it (the criticism), I think it sucks. Obviously we worked hard and tried to give the fans what they wanted. It's weird that some of the criticism I heard was that it was 'too much like a comic book', in terms of you have these characters being objectified like Harley Quinn, there are just certain elements that are just part of being a comic book. If you're trying to portray that on a film, you have to stay true to that, because if you don't, the fans of the comics are going to be offended."
It will certainly be interesting to see what the majority of comic book fans do actually think of the Suicide Squad movie once it hits the big screen on August 5 in both the US and the UK.
