When it comes to talking on certain roles in specific Hollywood movies, the stars involved can sometimes find that they have let themselves in for a lot more than they realised when they accepted the role. That is exactly what happened to actress Freida Pinto, who stars in the new movie Desert Dancer.
The Slumdog Millionaire actress took on the role of an Iranian woman who joins an illegal dance troupe in Tehran, which meant that Freida Pinto had plenty of dancing to do for the movie. Freida has now opened up about her dance scenes, revealing that her injuries have given her a new-found respect for dancers.
Pinto explained, "I've always respected (dancers) even before I did this film, but... there are an immense amount of sacrifices for the sake of art that a lot of people still don't get. For me, it's incredible - and all of this for the sake of expressing themselves."
She added, "I do have an immense respect for dancers, for artists in general, but definitely for dancers. (I have) so many (injuries), I've got scars from blisters. I'm so proud of them. Some of them I try to cover up with make-up just because they are very pronounced."
As well as starring Freida Pinto, the rest of the cast of Desert Dancers includes the likes of Simon Kassianides, Nazanin Boniadi, Marama Corlett, Tom Cullen, and Reece Ritchie, to name just a few. Desert Dancer is directed by Richard Raymond and hits the big screen in the US tomorrow (April 10). Check out the Desert Dancer trailer, below.
