It was back in 2013 that it was first suggested that we were going to get a new Tomb Raider movie which was going to be based on the new video game, which would focus on the origins of the character Lara Croft. It was starting to look like we were never going to get this new Tomb Raider film, until it was announced that things were moving forward and an actress had been cast as Lara Croft.

There have been mixed reactions to the casting of Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, but the actress is very excited about landing the role and cannot wait to get started on the new film. Alicia has already been talking about the new Tomb Raider movie, giving fans a little tease about what to expect from the film.
During a recent interview Vikander explained, "They told me they were doing the film based on the reboot of the game from 2013. That is more of an origin story. You get into an emotional aspect of getting to know Lara hopefully in an in-depth way. So I hope that doing a film of the rebooted game will bring something new and fresh that’ll stand on its own two legs." Pretty much what we were already told then.

It will be interesting to see whether Alicia Vikander can win over the critics and we are hoping for a good Tomb Raider movie. We are also looking forward to seeing who else gets added to the cast. The new Tomb Raider reboot movie is aiming for a March 16, 2018 release date.
